Thanks for the clarification on the D3 x Joe - it is the same on the D Thanks for the info. I thought that was the case, the chap in Jessop thought I would get darkening around the edges. I can use the f4 and 50mm f1. Thanks again for your help. Joe B. If you set it to shoot DX the view finder darkens around the edges to show you the DX crop. If you shoot a DX lens in FX you get heavy vignetting as you'd expect. That said, it's not always as much as you'd expect eg the 35mm 1.
LenShepherd 13 4. John, what ISO are you typically shooting at? At 55mm it is fine. I get slight underexposure there causing great noise, and ore often than not. If i get get better results with the D, with ISO that would be my dream, and i think i can acheive this one dream. I like the range of the , and theoreticaly, can afford to lose the also from the camera bag with the I'd have to mull that over some i guess.
John, to date, I still do not own an FX body although I am planning to buy one soon, after all pre-Photokina announcements are out. The D3 I used earlier this year was on loan to photo. If you shoot outdoors, the D with is perfectly fine. The D3 and D will be far better for indoor, especially existing light type photography. As i indicated Shun, I have a gap for my low light indoor shooting at dance competitions.
While i will maintain the D for my wildlife sports shooting, I hinsetly feel the D ill help me in that area, additionally, ith the landscape area where i have just begun dabbling. With the dance competitions, as you are probably familiar, are typically low, colored lighting, with much movement, so shutter speed is critical.
ISO and above is the norm for best results. John, you will be thrilled with the D at ISO And the larger viewfinder! Shun's suggestion on the mm is an excellent one. I like with the D and love it on an FX body. Your biggest improvement in overall IQ will be to go with a fast prime or primes. I don't understand exactly what you mean by "miss". As a general statement though, it doesn't really make a lot of sense to invest in a full frame camera only to use DX lenses on it.
John, If I understand your question correctly, the mm on FX will give you about the same angle of view as the mm on DX. I am seriously thinking about buying a D but I noticed that some forums talk about DX lenses not being compatible on D is that true? I have a mm DX lens that fits on my D Also if I do decide to buy an FX lens than how much will that cost?

If you do not need the mp, dx on a D is doable, but there is a penalty to be paid in resolution. The images can look great though and nobody would be able to tell the difference unless you blew it up to poster size. Asking the price of an FX lens is like asking how much does a car cost.
You can get lenses under or over for the same range and focal length. I am looking for a between 25mm - mm. Joined May 2, Messages Location Dallas. Michael Mohrmann Guest. Be prepare to defend your purchase of the D with the addition of "substandard" lenses. How about "The Beast? Many claim to enjoy this lens over the new for the way it renders skin tones.
Coupled with it selling used for almost half of what the new lens goes for, makes it a great choice in the range you're looking for. Scorpio1 said:.
